College Education - To Be Or Not To Be

The road to knowledge which passes through the lanes of learning is indeed very long-winded and difficult to tread. Most students would welcome the chance to see the back of a learning institute and concentrate instead on making money by taking convenient short cuts in life. However, what they do not realize is that in order to be successful in whichever course of life they choose, the knowledge that they would gain through a college education would be invaluable and indispensable.

Most middle income families would have to take a loan to raise that much money which would ultimately have to be paid back with interest.

On the flip side it might be argued that due to the not-so-capable professors and the way most colleges are run, the education gained is nothing compared to what is promised in the brochures and which is not enough to see them through the long-winded difficult course of life. Moreover, you would have spent four valuable years of your life in going through seemingly unnecessary pursuits.

Who Probably Should Go To College?

Students who are extremely motivated and who are fond of school-based education would probably be the best candidates to go to college. Moreover, you have to have the knack of knowing which professor or instructor has something valuable to offer and then be able to get into their classes. You should also have the competence to be able to ask questions and it is only through such inquisitiveness that you can increase the pace of your learning.

Some students can do well in academics whereas they are quite incapable in the other aspects of life. They might be excellent in following specific instructions which they would accomplish quite successfully and meticulously. On the other hand they would be lacking self-confidence and would be making a very poor impression on others in the society. Such are the people who should go to college in order to equip themselves with education which would make up for their shortcomings in the real-life world.

Who Should Not Go To College?

There are many students who find themselves lost in the precincts of a college. They might be unable to understand the intricacies of Calculus but they would be experts in dealing with other people and getting their way in this world. They are smart people who are self-confident and self-starters in their fields and even though they might not be having any college degrees to boast of, they would be much in demand from prospective employers. Many of them might even be successful businessmen. Such are the people who should not bother about going to college and instead pursue their goals of life according to their own capabilities.

Each one of us should try to find out our own weaknesses, strengths, likes and dislikes and then carve out our own paths of life. It is no good trying to do something that we are not good at. However, if you find that you are not doing well at college, you should just take off for a year and take part in all sorts of adventures and at the end of the year come back to the college. You will find that you will be able to pursue your college studies with a renewed vigor and motivation.
